Experimenting with larger images for the blog.
Big is better?!?
Yes or no?

I love the Donnelly River Holiday Village. My parents have taken me there since I was little. Lots of happy memories.
We spent last week there. My kids just adored the place. Kangaroos, emus, possums and beautiful birds flocked around our little cabin all week.
It's very basic accommodation, but perfect for a very relaxed getaway. We walked in the bush and ate pies from local bakeries and played on the flying fox and read books by the fire. Perfect!
I wandered down this trail every morning with my coffee. Could get very used to such prettiness.

Our little cabin, outside loo and all.

Tres cuteness

My 5yr old son took to calling these "Emm-yous." I corrected him but he was quite determined. Nevertheless, they are hostile looking and unfriendly (and to be perfectly honest rather thick - they will run at you with a wild look)

It was very stormy for the first part of the week. I loved it.

This was our little mate, "King Julian." He turned up every evening at the same time. Oh gosh, but he was *cute*. We gave him a strawberry one night, he picked it up in his tiny paw, sniffed it and then pointedly threw it on the ground in apparent disgust.

Much mirth ensued when we discovered each emu has a different hairdo. Some have spikes. Some have flattened coifs with some tufts (see below). Others had crazy afro-like do's. Tres emusement.

Please note my daughter, interacting with the locals

They were extremely cute.

Traditional Aussie scene, complete with wandering emu

Tackling (10 rungs of...) the Gloucester Tree.

My Dad. I like this photo of him.

Compulsory unflattering holiday pic of moi (complete with ugg boots, out of sight but I have to be honest). On the lowest rung of Gloucester Tree. Continuing in the spirit of honesty, this is as far as I got.

My husband, attacked by birds. Very Hitchcock.

PS, Big thanks to my house sitter and to Tasj for minding my mini-zoo while I am away.

One of my favourite brides, and now my friend, Jayne, bought a gift voucher for her son and his fiancee. I was thrilled to be able to photograph for them :-)
Hope you love these, David and Kylie and it was lovely to meet you both :)

I am going to post a few favourite wedding images from over the year with a little explanation of why the photo stands out for me.
I love it when other photographers explain their favourite images.
As always, let me know what you think. I love comments :)

October 2007 | I love the back lighting and the interaction between the couple. This bride and groom were so into each other, they were super easy to photograph.

April 2006 | The groom's speech. Swoon.

September 2005 | This images was captured with very little guidance from me. I just asked the couple to walk towards me. The rest was them just being themselves. This location is the driveway beside Leonda Reception Centre in Byford. When I had it a sample album *everyone* used to ask me where this pretty lane was :-)

February 2008 | I love this simple photograph against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful coastlines in Western Australia. This is in Yallingup.

March 2009 | During the bride's prep. I love the quiet anticipating of this images. I think nerves start setting in a little once the photographer arrives. It makes it all real and everything starts to happen at once.

October 2006 | This images still makes me smile. When we're on location people sometimes stop to congratulate the bride and groom. I don't think this bloke knew we were even shooting, he thought they were just standing there and offered his congrats as he passed with his groceries.

January 2007 | One of my favourite cakes ever.

April 2007 | Love this image of a very beautiful bride before her ceremony

April 2009 | I really love this image. The bride and groom delayed their ceremony for their sick grandfather. It was really important that he be there to witness their vows. A few weeks later he passed away and they thanked me for taking this photo. It's a big reason why I love my job so much, moments like these.

February 2006 | I always try to photograph the bridal party in a relaxed way. I don't want the images too awkward or remeniscent of boring school portraits. This is just a happy shot of the girls I have always liked.

November 2007 | I didn't have to try very hard to create beautiful images on stunning Castle Rock beach in Dunsborough.

April 2005 | I remember when I took this photo I was excited about my development of a very natural style. It's not the most natural photo in the world, but I remember being excited about the direction i was heading in.

April 2007 | You don't often see the father of the bride helping the bride into her dress. I thought this was a very cute and natural moment.

April 2008 | Such a beautiful wedding. It rained all day, from bride's preparations until the reception. Didn't stop, just bucketed down. Captured truly unique and beautiful images that day.

December 2008 | This groom later reported he was feeling *very* nervous at the beginning of the ceremony. I love this knowing look he is giving his bride :)

May 2008 | A beautiful moment between the bride and her Gran. I asked them to look at each other and they just leant their heads together and I got this moment. Love it.

March 2008 | This groom had all this mates from the UK together as his bridal party. I asked them to line up together and they decided to do something a little different.

May 2008 | A different sort of bridal party shot that I absoloutely love. Not sure what they were laughing about but it looks cool :)

September 2008 | The sun goes down at Coral Bay. The bride wanted to walk out onto the rocks.

December 2007 | A quiet moment before getting out of the car to walk down the ailse

May 2007 | I have always loved this bridal portrait taken before the ceremony at the bride's house. We were in a little room with pretty light coming in from a window.

January 2009 | I love the time after the ceremony when the guests greet the couple. This is the time to ignore me completely so I can capture real moments. This is a friend hugging the groom. I love the emotion.
On Monday a new pricing structure is coming into place, for all *new* wedding and portrait bookings.
It will include new products and options :-)
This new structure applies to *new* clients only, for anyone booking and paying retainers from Monday 13 July 2009 onwards.
I came home from a shoot the other evening to find Shirley from Purley, our moggy, asleep on my flowers. This is her new favourite place to sleep... sigh

Emily and Peter booked me from the state's Far North, without meeting me first. I was really happy that they organised a Pre-Wedding Session to get familar with my shooting style and capture some relaxed portraits.
The light was amazing. I love shooting as the sun sets.
Such a cool couple; I really loved the results from this session :-)
A big thanks to Emily and Peter :-) I will see you in October :-)

I had the pleasure of being asked by Variety WA to take some photographs of beautiful Chloe. She is the sweetest little girl you could ever meet.
Thanks Chloe :-)
I love images that capture kids being themselves.

Dirty knees and not co-operating = magic :-)
